About

Hi! I’m Melissa, founder of Wildflour Cake Co.

I was born and raised in the small town of Coon Valley, Wisconsin, where I discovered my love for food at an early age while cooking and baking for my family. My true passion for cakes blossomed during my college internship at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City, Utah.

Working under a renowned pastry chef specializing in chocolate, I spent my spare time volunteering to assist with his intricate creations. This experience ignited my eagerness to learn and practice, and soon I was crafting cakes for family and friends.

After graduating, I moved to Long Island, New York, where I worked at a bakery in Levittown for three years. During my time at the bakery, I honed in my skills and even entered a few cake competitions -- including two live events where my coworker and I placed 1st in both! These competitions only deepened my commitment to cake artistry.

My next chapter led me to move to Silverthorne, Colorado. This is where the real challenge began-baking at altitude--a whopping 9,318 feet in elevation! I continued making cakes and working in a bakery for four years until I met my husband and we began a family.

Though my cake career paused briefly, my passion never wavered. Now that my children are a bit older, I’m thrilled to be back, creating beautiful, delicious cakes to celebrate life’s special moments!
